Thanksgiving in 2020

Thanksgiving is around the corner and so is our excitement. If you are not acquainted with it, Thanksgiving Day is a holiday celebrated by Americans on the fourth Thursday of November. It celebrates the story of the Pilgrim's meal with the Native Americans and is reserved as a day to spend with loved ones and for giving thanks. Most families celebrate it with a large meal and sometimes a religious service.

However, this year, we also have to be careful and take care of the ones we love by staying at home as much as we can, so here are some ideas to have a festive holiday while at home. We promise you will have as much fun as any Thanksgiving.

1. Watch The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade 2020
Have you ever seen the beautiful NYC Thanksgiving parade on TV? Floating turkeys and Garfield balloons all around New York. And although the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is not open to spectators in 2020, you can watch the parade on broadcast television on NBC.

2. Host a Thanksgiving feast and decorate your home for the season.
Make a fall cocktail and roast a turkey. An easy way to celebrate this year. Get all your family or people you live with together and cook a tasty meal. You can choose the classics (roasted turkey, pumpkin pie, cranberry sauce, or cornbread) or get creative and try something new and exciting!

3. Volunteer
What is better than volunteering on the day of giving thanks? Choose a charity of your choice and volunteer for the night or go help your friends if they need it. We all need help sometimes.

4. Give Thanks
And more importantly, what are you thankful for? Has anyone helped you during these times? Has anyone cooked for you during quarantine? Did someone call you and made your day? Did you have drinks with your neighbor? Did someone play some music on your street? Then Thursday is the day to start telling them how grateful you are for all they did for you.

If you are in NYC and feel safe to go out and enjoy the holiday spirit, you can also do the following…
Visit the Winter Village at Bryant Park
Visit the New York Botanical Garden and enjoy their show “Glow”
Go see the Christmas Lights at Dyker Heights
Go ice skating in the Rink at Rockefeller center

We hope you find these ideas useful for the wonderful holidays and you all have a great day.
